I was kind of inspired by NFL Network correspondent Albert Breer the other day to begin work on a section of the site that will become more prevalent in the offseason: Presswatch.

The idea behind presswatch is real simple and exists for a bunch of other sports already: Every day, on lots of websites and in a load of newspapers, people are contradicting themselves, spouting rubbish and creating stories that in the vast majority of cases are completely and utterly wrong. If it's ever pissed you off that the rumor-mongers and tweeters are unaccountable for what they say, well, this is a site you'll love, because nothing amuses me more than when people try to look clever and then are proved incredibly wrong, stupid, or in the best cases, both.

There are no hard and fast rules on what I'll pick out, all I'll say is that due to the 24-7 nature of the NFL, I can't pore over every single tweet or story across the board, so I'd appreciate it if you have a story worth picking up on if you'd tweet me with the details. I've given you some good examples below, but if any story seems to carry the distinct aroma of bullshit, double standards or hypocrisy feel free to point it out.

Sourcey stuff

Andy Reid has emerged as the leading candidate to become Arizona's next HC and could be named to job by end of the week, per league sources.

Excellent reporting Adam, thank god you've got reliable 'league sources' to get your stor...

From @mortreport and me: Andy Reid has reached agreement to become next HC of Chiefs, pending review of contract by each side's attorneys.

Oh.

Reid All About It

From ProFootballTalk Dec 30th:

There has been a presumption that Andy Reid will land on his feet, if/when (when) he’s fired by the Eagles. As we heard it on Saturday, Reid already is lining up a new staff that would accompany him to San Diego, if he’s hired by the Chargers. But it’s no lock he’ll be hired by the Chargers. Indeed, it’s no lock he’ll be hired by anyone. There’s a theory making the rounds in league circles that Reid, who says he wants to coach in 2013, may not find an opening in the upcoming hiring cycle. Any rumors of teams interested in Reid are believed to be the product of his agent, Bob LaMonte, who is believed to have spent much of December generating potential interest in another client, Jon Gruden.__The fact that Reid is widely liked by many in the national media (some in Philly have a much different attitude toward him) has caused many to sign off on the notion that Reid will definitely find another NFL job right away. He definitely could, but it may not be the lock that some think it is.

Ah the old 'cover every angle' approach (copyright Florio 2004). You've got to love any story where the payoff is 'he definitely could, but...'

**If you've got a story for Presswatch, tweet me @Shaun\Lowrie, credit will be given for all submissions. Enjoy the Wild Card Weekend.**_
