BetSmart is the ultimate tool to find mathematically winning bets that you won't find with the naked eye.

Sportsbooks often make mistakes in how they price their odds or lines, in relation to other books. BetSmart helps flag these mistakes to you whenever they can make a profit by betting both sides, or betting against the sportsbook's mistakes.

Middle Bet recap

Those of you who already have BetSmart will no doubt have realized that Middles are THE way to boost your bankroll, and the NFL is a huge goldmine for them.

Here's how they work:

BetSmart highlights a discrepancy between two lines for the same player - for example, here's Dalton Schultz with OVER 2.5 receptions at Fanatics, and UNDER 3.5 receptions at other books.
This creates an opportunity. If Schultz has exactly 3 receptions - a common occurance - we'd win $58.50, and if he doesn't, we'll lose a maximum of only $1.30. That's a very. very good deal that belies the odds and the lack of risk.
As you can imagine, since I'm using it as an example, Schultz did in fact have exactly 3 receptions. Savvy bettors won both sides, and even if he'd have had one more, would likely not have cared about losing $1.30!

Middles are great, but there are some obvious caveats.

Only bet small-target, low-variable markets - Total Receptions is a great example, as are Pass completions and Rushing attempts - all very deliberate acts, that only go up in increments of 1. It only goes up by 1 each time, and most players will finish within a rough boundary of between 1-10 every game
Don't bet high-target, high-variability markets. That means Passing yards, and receiving yards, for example. These markets go up in increments of 0-99 on any play, and the targets are often needle in a haystack stuff. You absolutely shouldn't be betting on a QB getting 230 yards exactly. Ever. Even with no risk.
Focus on a market you know is profitable overall, and try to play as many bets as possible in that market.

If you followed us last week, or read my preseason guide, you'd know that Total Receptions is my favorite. It's a consistent market.

As you can see, the exponential impact of more bets winning from a limited pool is HUGE. Remember, there is almost no risk in making these bets. Even if all 16 had lost this week, the absolute maximum you could lose with max stakes of $30, would be $70. If that's too much for you, just halve the max stake to $15, and the maximum loss becomes only $35, for a chance to win a huge amount.

There is impeccable logic as to why reception markets are so good for this. Think about how a reception happens - the maximum number of receptions on any play for a player is 1. Even if a player goes 99 yards, they made 1 reception. And the target line for us? It's also right around the line everyone expects the player to get, hence the odds!

I could wax lyrical about reception markets, but there is one downside: They're rare. Across the entirety of week 2, there were only 16, and some of them were available for only 10 minutes.
