Week 2 of the NFL preseason comes to a close tonight as the Atlanta Falcons will take on the New York Jets.

The Falcons are road favorites in this game as the Jets' injury situation has soured the optimism they had entering the 2022 season, but there is still a lot of promise for New York's future, especially with their rookies looking solid throughout camp, and during the first preseason game.

We only have five more days before we are betting on actual football games as college football kicks off its season this Saturday. So we are going to treat tonight, and every preseason game we have action on this week as a tuneup. People forget that it is the preseason for us bettors out there, and the only way we are going to improve is with constant reps.

Anyway, let's get talk about tonight's action. We would love for you to tail our picks, we just ask that you do so responsibly.

Falcons vs. Jets Pick:

Both teams won their first preseason game, but only one of these teams had to deal with their franchise quarterback going down with what seemed like a season-altering injury. Luckily, Zach Wilson will only be out a few weeks, so I am again forced to watch Joe Flacco play football.

We were likely to see a lot of Flacco and Mike White in this game anyway, but the actual quarterback storyline in this game belongs to the Atlanta Falcons. After last week's comeback victory over the Detriot Lions, Desmond Ridder will get most of the reps in this game, but Marcus Mariota is going to get the start. In his first NFL action, Ridder only completed 45% of his passes, but he came up clutch when needed, and led the Falcons on a game-winning drive.

New York's secondary is a bit of a tougher test, especially with Ridder having to go up against his Cincinnati Bearcat teammate Ahmad Gardner. However, Robert Saleh is 3-0-1 in the preseason as head coach of the Jets, and the Falcons' win last week was only their second preseason victory in their last 18 games.

Both teams were shaky on defense to start their first preseason games, so I am not feeling comfortable looking at the spread or the ML. This means it is time to focus on the total. If you have been paying attention, preseason overs are 21-11 so far, including a perfect sweep last night.

The under is actually the favorable trend for this specific matchup, as 11 of the last 16 Falcons' preseason games have gone under, and 13 of the last 19 for the Jets, but I am going to ride with the points this preseason, and bet on the total to go over the number.

Pick: Over 38 (-110)
