Take Under 47.5 Northern Illinois vs Duke (Tuesday, Dec 26 5:15PM – Quicken Lane Bowl)
Analysis:
The Quick Lane Bowl in Detroit, Michigan is at Ford Field and this matchup should be a low scoring affair. This matchup at Ford Field is against ACC opponent the Duke Blue Devils against MAC Conference opponent the Northern Illinois Huskies. Both teams rely on getting the running going first and if both teams can establish the run than that is a major reason why we believe the under is the best bet in this Quick Lane Bowl. The Duke Blue Devils come to Detroit, Michigan with a .500 record of 6-6 but needed back-to-back wins to be bowl eligible. The Blue Devils beat Wake Forest and Georgia Tech to be able to play this bowl game and their defense has been their bread and butter all season long.
The Blue Devils 12 games this season nine of them have gone under and their last six games none of their opponents scored over 24 points. The Northern Illinois Huskies arrive in Motown winners of six out eight games and the Huskies have been playing totally different type of football then the Blue Devils. The Huskies can score and score quickly as their last two wins they scored 98 points but those wins were both at home and not on a neutral site. Turnovers and the Blue Devils defense will be the key to this under cashing Tuesday night and I see the Huskies QB Marcus Childers throwing interceptions on big drives that will affect the momentum of this game.
Duke Blue Devils QB Daniel Jones can also make those mental mishaps and throw interceptions especially in the red zone and I do believe this is one of the main reasons why I believe this game goes under. Throw in that if the Blue Devils can run the ball with Shaun Wilson and Brittain Brown early in this game that will tick-tock the clock fast and we all know that the Blue Devils defense will show up and bother the Huskies for all four quarters.
Important stats that will give us a bowl game winner on Tuesday the day after Christmas! The Duke Blue Devils are 4-9 O/U in their last 13 non-conference games the Blue Devils are 8-20 O/U following a straight up win. The Northern Illinois Huskies are 0-4 O/U against ACC conference opponents and the Huskies are 1-4 O/U in their last 5 non-conference games.
