2015 SUPER BOWL FINAL PREDICTIONS: PATRIOTS AT SEAHAWKS

SUPER BOWL MVP

PETE PRISCO

Senior NFL Columnist

Patriots 23, Seahawks 20

MVP: Tom Brady

PRISCO'S TAKE: There are two big reasons why I like the New England Patriots to beat the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX: Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.Their run as one of the league's best coach-quarterback tandems of all-time began 13 years ago, when many of the same players who will be on the same University of Phoenix Stadium field Sunday were still hoping to show off for their high-school coaches and win a letterman jacket. That's staying power.

The reason it's worked, even as the other names change and the roster turns over year by year, is because they're both among the greats at their respective jobs.

Give Belichick two weeks to prepare to stop a gimmicky offense like the one Seattle runs, and I will take that any day. He will come up with something to limit running back Marshawn Lynch, force Russell Wilson to win the game in the pocket, which will play right into the Seattle weakness. That's the Belichick way.

I think Brady will have time to make smart decisions against that great Seattle defense. He will be patient. He will use Shane Vereen as a check-down king to move the football. If the Seahawks double Rob Gronkowski, which they will do, he will go to others behind the double. He's smart that way and he will play well enough to win the Super Bowl MVP.

The Patriots haven't won a title in over a decade. They've dealt with Spygate and now Deflategate, but none of that will matter when the night is over in the desert.

Brady and Belichick will be atop the football mountain again -- maybe earning that spot permanently if they indeed do win another.

JASON LA CANFORA

CBS Sports NFL Insider

Patriots 24, Seahawks 21

MVP: Julian Edelman

LA CANFORA'S TAKE: Don't make Tom Brady angry. You wont like him when he's angry. Not that the Pats needed any more motivation to win this game, but Deflategate gives Belichick's boys even more motivation to go "us-against-the-world" and show that they don't need no stinking soft balls to win football games. It will be a throwback game, I think, with the offensive and defensive lines carrying the day.The MVP will be Julian Edelman. The Seahawks will take away Gronk but Edelman is a tougher matchup for them and I see him making a few huge plays on specials teams and catching a TD or two in a closely-played game.

PAT KIRWAN

NFL Insider

Seahawks 24, Patriots 21

MVP: Marshawn Lynch

KIRWAN'S TAKE: This is a tough game to call but Seattle is my choice in a close, low-scoring game. I sat down with both starting quarterbacks and I was impressed with their confidence. I don't expect the Patriots to get a big pass rush on Russell Wilson (New England doesn't have a sack in the postseason) and because of the constant run threat of Marshawn Lynch, I will not be surprised to see Wilson have a good day throwing the ball. For the Seahawks defense, handling Rob Gronkowski is the biggest challenge and he will get his five or six catches, but Kam Chancellor and some creative coverage calls should minimize his red zone production. This game could go either way but I still like a great defense and a running game.

WILL BRINSON

NFL Writer

Patriots 28, Seahawks 24

MVP: Tom Brady

BRINSON'S TAKE: This Super Bowl has the feel of an unbelievably close, dramatic game and, unlike the last two appearances, I've got the Patriots taking down the title this time. New England is so well balanced, Tom Brady understands what's at stake in this game,LeGarrette Blount can soften up Seattle's defense early and Rob Gronkowski is impossible to defend. Also I'm running on an unbelievable streak of picking against the Seahawks (five straight playoff games -- you're welcome Seattle!) and at this point I'm just gonna drive the idiot train into the station.

JARED DUBIN

NFL Writer

Seahawks 26, Patriots 21

MVP: Marshawn Lynch

DUBIN'S TAKE: I don't usually like picking against Bill Belichick when he has two weeks to prepare for his opponent -- he is 17-7 in such games with the Patriots, after all -- but too many of the matchups favor the Seahawks here for me to go against them. Marshawn Lynch should continue the roll he's been on for the last two months or so, while LeGarrette Blount will find much less running room against the Seattle front seven. And while the Patriots were able to survive and thrive against Baltimore without running at all, that won't fly against the Legion of Boom. Rob Gronkowski is a nightmare matchup, but if anyone can minimize the damage he does, it's these Seahawks. It feels a bit strange to ride with the strong defense and running game in what has become a passing league, but that's where the major advantages in this game lie. With a couple touchdowns, Beast Mode steamrolls his way to the MVP, and the most awkward postgame interview ever.

RYAN WILSON

NFL Writer

Patriots 20, Seahawks 17

MVP: Rob Gronkowski

WILSON'S TAKE: The Seahawks have the best defense in the league but we saw thePackers have some success running the ball early in the NFC Championship Game. The Patriots will need to do the same to take pressure off Tom Brady and open things up in the middle of the field for Rob Gronkowski.Controlling the clock also keeps Marshawn Lynch off the field. And we intentionally mentioned the Seahawks' running back before quarterback Russell Wilson, not because we're down on Wilson but because Seattle's offense goes through Lynch. Again going back to the NFC championship game, Wilson struggled when he had to rely solely on his arm (and if not for Mike McCarthy forgetting how to coach over the last five minutes, Green Bay would be in the Super Bowl), and New England will try to do the same. Whether the Pats accomplish that will determine the outcome.

JOHN BREECH

NFL Writer

Seahawks 27, Patriots 20

MVP: Marshawn Lynch

BREECH'S TAKE: The Patriots haven't really been tested this season by a mobile quarterback -- unless you count Ryan Tannehill, but I don't count Ryan Tannehill because I never count Tannehill for anything.Anyway, Tannehill rushed for 317 yards in 2014, the most by any quarterback the Patriots played. I see Russell Wilson and his 849 rushing yards this season -- the most by any quarterback in the NFL in 2014 -- presenting plenty of problems for the Patriots.Yes, Bill Belichick will likely cook something up to slow Wilson down, but Marshawn Lynch will likely eat up whatever Belichick cooks and then spit it out to the tune of 129 yards and two touchdowns.

In layman's terms, I think the Patriots will struggle against the run and I think Beast Mode will go Beast Mode.

Lynch has spent the entire season giving one-sentence responses when he talks to the media, so things should work out pretty well for everyone when the only sentence he has to say after the game is, "I'm going to Disney World."

DAVE RICHARD

Senior Fantasy Writer

Seahawks 27, Patriots 21

MVP: Marshawn Lynch

RICHARD'S TAKE: It's not foolproof, but typically if you pick the team with the best defense in a Super Bowl you'll have a winner. New England's defense is good but Seattle's is better. The other factor I'll lean on is the run game -- another area where Seattle is superior to New England. I know it's dangerous to pick against Tom Brady, but it's becoming clear that it's equally dangerous to pick against Russell Wilson, and he's not going to have a four-turnover meltdown like he did two weeks ago.
